This painting was completed in 1994 while I was in working on my first degree in art. The Madonna and Child depiction seems to be have an overtly religious tone, although it's more about war and the blood that has been shed on both sides, as a river of red can be seen wrapping around the edge and coming from the bombed out town on the horizon. Although dark, it brings a hint of peacefulness and interest to the viewer.
